Luqolo
Junior Secondary School |
The school is a junior secondary starting from grade 1 to 9.
It is situated at the Luqolo village which is about 5 kilometers
from Lubisi. It was erected in 1971 and consists of 4 permanent
structures which were built by the community.
Luqolo Junior Secondary School's main objective is to educate
and produce an individual that can be productive for themselves,
their community and the country socially, economically and otheriwse.
The school is following the seven hours time table and starts
at 7:50 to 13:50. Its a 10 day cycle divided into 50 minute
periods per day, with breaks included.
The current S.G.B. was elected in October 2000 and consists
of 7 parents, 2 educators and 2 learners. The Principal is an
ex-officio member. There are also sub committees for finance,
funding, entertainment and primary nutrition.

Tuition:

Two Languages (Xhosa and English) are taught and the meduim
of instruction is english from grade 2 and 9.
The school has seven teachers under the principal of S.M.Mayongo
who is teaching Geography, Natural Science, Human and Social
Sciences and Economic Management Sciences.
Mrs Y.T. Ntshinga is a head of the division for the foundation
phase and also teaches grades 1 and 2. Miss T.P. Matiso is in
charge of grade 3 and 4. Miss K Sibeko teaches grade 5 and 6.
The following teachers conduct subject teaching in the senior
phase - Mr P.A. Fata (History, English and Arts and Culture),
Miss N.H. Sondlo (Xhosa, Agriculture and Life Orientation) and
Miss L.R. Siko (Mathematics, MLMMS and Technology).

School activities:
|
Learners take part in athletics, netball and soccer. Choral
music is the most loved activity in the school. Cultural activity
in the form of traditional dance and music are also offered.

A draft document is in place where among other issues, codes
of conduct for learners, educators and parents are addressed.

Achievements
|
The school boasts of prominent public figures in the person
of David Tezapi who was cabinet minister. In the former Transkei,
police, soldiers, teachers and the like. In music competitions
the school always ends up in the district level. In 1994 the
school choir went up to the regional level. During the same
year in athletics two girls represented the former Transkei
State.
